ISLAMABAD, September 30: The government wants to know how many Pakistanis have assets in Dubai and how many were obtained through legal means.
The FBR has sent a list of 300 Pakistanis with assets in Dubai to the FIA, according to a private television channel report Sunday.
On the list are 177 people from Sindh, 91 from Punjab, 27 from Islamabad, six from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and two from Balochistan.
Notices have been issued to these people by the FBR asking them to explain the details of these foreign assets.
They will be asked questions about taxes and their failure to disclose
assets abroad. The government earlier introduced a tax amnesty scheme, allowing Pakistanis to declare their assets abroad without any penalties. The government is now going after people who didn’t declare their assets. -NNI
