Wit of Sheridan was proverbial. His play “School For Scandal” still remains a masterpiece.
It was he who had put these words in the mouth of a character of his: MISCHIEF IS NOT JUST A HABIT, IT IS ALSO AN ART.
Reading today’s headline of Dawn, I couldn’t help remembering Sheridan.
The headline reads: IHC JUDGE SACKED FOR ACCUSING ISI OF INTERFERENCE.
The report has been filed by Malik Asad. It seems the said Newspaper— once a lighthouse of credibility—has more than one Cyril Almeidas to carry out an agenda of mischief against the Armed Forces of Pakistan.
From the notorious Dawn Leaks to the treacherous Almeida interview of Mian Nawaz Sharif, the said newspaper has never been found wanting in an organized exercise to malign the Army.
The dismissal of this clownish judge who had brought nothing but embarrassment and disrespect to the Judiciary is worth lauding heartily, but the desk editor who has ‘coined’ the headline has used the opportunity to further malign ISI.
I think the editors of this breed should also flash such headlines (when such an unfortunate occasion comes) as: ARMY INTERFERING IN. THE CIVIL TASK OF FLOOD RELIEF OR OF CALAMITY FIGHTING.
‘Good Riddance’ would have been the right headline for washing away the dirt from an honourable court.
