SRINAGAR, December 16: In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, while welcoming the resumption of talks between Pakistan and India has expressed the hope that the two countries will show seriousness in resolving all issues including the Kashmir dispute for ensuring durable peace and stability in the South Asian region.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq addressing a gathering at the shrine of Khawaja Bahuddin Naqshband in Srinagar hoped that unlike past Pak-India talks would be carried forward with all seriousness and in a meaningful way. He said that dialogue was the most effective way to resolve the contentious issues between the two countries. The Mirwaiz asked the two countries to make new beginning on Kashmir. “Kashmir being the most important pending issue between the two countries should get the attention it deserves because the continuation of this issue has been a stumbling block in the overall stability and progress of the region,” he added.”Kashmir is basically a political and a human issue and needs a political solution. Both the countries will have to devise a mechanism in order to include the people of Kashmir in the dialogue because without their participation and without taking their aspirations into account there cannot be a just and agreeable solution to this issue,” he pointed out.
