Ashraf Ghani’s fealty to Washington has never been in doubt but no body could ever think he would be more loyal than the king. The revelation by Bob Woodward in his book Fear that the Afghan president had requested Trump not to leave Afghanistan as it has a lot of mineral wealth in the shape of Lithium worth trillion of dollars and that he was ready to provide as many bases for the CIA and American troops as he wants has come as a shock to many. Historians blame the Mughal emperors for providing a leeway to the Brits by allowing the East India Company to start its commercial activities in India through which they ultimately got a foothold in the sub-continent and converted it as its colony. Ashraf Ghani has gone many steps ahead of those Mughal emperors by offering Afghanistan on a silver platter to the Yankees. Bob Woodward writes that Trump had once reportedly told his military commanders that when Kabul has been making such liberal offers to us why are we not seizing upon these opportunities and allowing China to make economic inroads into Afghanistan. It goes without saying that the Muslims suffered more loss at the hands of insiders than the outsiders.
While giving temptation of Lithium to Trump Ashraf Ghani conveniently forgot that the most of the area in which mineral wealth of Afghanistan is located is under the physical occupation of Taliban.
