ABDULLAH MUSTAFVI

Few news about sanction of financial package from friendly countries have really enabled our new government to take sigh of relief. Financial package from KSA has been announced where as similar loans are expected from China and UAE. Though, these bailout packages are coming in hours of real need but much desired stability can only be ensured by implementing tough corrective measures to curb the deep rooted corruption in governmental corridors. Reportedly Pakistan would be seeking 6 billion dollars assistance package from UAE in shape of cash deposits and oil supply on deferred payments. Prime Minister may land in UAE after upcoming visit of China subject to finalization of expected agreement. Chinese Ambassador has given a clear hint about provision of financial grant to Pakistan for laying sound foundations for second phase of CPEC. Chinese embassy conducted a four hours long briefing to share the details about upcoming visit of Pakistani premier. Chinese gesture to support Pakistan appeared as the most prominent indicator during previous two weeks and it really enabled the latter in tackling the pressure rapidly mounting from America. Chinese diplomatic circles have loudly declared that Pakistan holds the status of a reliable friend and all expected assistance would be granted during the upcoming visit of Pakistani premier. These clear statements have successfully countered the negative propaganda being launched buy few dubious media quarters against CPEC vis a vis Chinese connection with Pakistan. It is now obvious that China fully understands the difficulties being faced by Pakistan due to peculiar regional complications. Economic build-up under Chinese banner is not acceptable to America and India for many understandable reasons. Obviously at the moment , Pakistan falls in the crosshairs as a soft target. Traditional rivalry with India and day by day worsening situation in occupied Kashmir offers countless exploitable opportunities to America. Pressure is being mounted on Pakistan through financial action task force forum while India persistently marching on the drumbeat of cross border terrorism allegations. Undoubtedly it is a tightrope walking situation for Pakistan and any laxity in decision making might damage the country in the longer run. Recent Pakistani quest for internal stability can only turn into a success provided the government succeeds in sealing the huge holes of corruption in her pot. It is a bitter reality of the day that billions from national exchequer were sent out of the country by the looters through illegal means. Pakistan cannot afford such practices anymore. Bailout packages from different countries can only provide a temporary relief and permanent cure is only in our own hands. Internal system deserves ruthless surgery against the deep rooted corruption . Present ruling party won the elections with high sounding claims and promises to uproot the corruption from country . Now it is time to act and more obviously the war would not be easy for the government while having many of the parliamentarians with grey shade. Dealing with the corrupt bureaucracy will be another uphill task and during a recent meeting with the press Prime Minister also admitted that extracting any worth while information from bureaucracy had not been easy and smooth so far. It is not Childs’ play to run a country like Pakistan which suffers with decades-long corrupt practices and spineless economy. Troubles at eastern and western borders coupled with foreign sponsored terrorism all across the country with highly politicized law enforcement agencies eventually put the government in a miserable compromising state at many sensitive fronts. Level of deterioration in state affairs and sensitivity of compromises can be judged from the fact that present government is now replacing the envoys in few important countries including USA and UK . No one from the past ruling cults is ready to reply that why the characters with dubious credentials were sent on sensitive diplomatic posts? We have witnessed the shameful episode of Hussain Haqani who now happens to be an absconder from Pakistani courts and operates as a paid propagandist of hostile elements. Country definitely needs a fair system of accountability in which an elected ruler should stand answerable to the parliament for all nonsense decisions made like an unelected King. Long sermons by the party representatives in support of their leaders in media forums wouldn’t serve any purpose to the democracy unless the parties take the responsibility of all decisions made by none other than their own beloved leaders. It is not the bail out packages from friendly countries which could cure the country rather a ruthless surgery of corrupt practices and result oriented accountability of past emperors which would surely put the Pakistan back on track of stability.
