ISLAMABAD, November 9: The Accountability Court on Friday has allowed National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to submit new documents against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Flagship reference.
The Accountability Court Judge, Arshad Malik resumed the hearing of the case during which Khawaja Harris submitted his client Nawaz Sharif’s exemption plea.
Nawaz Sharif couldn t appear before the court due to security issues and sought a one-day exemption from hearing of the case pertaining to Flagship Investments reference.
It is worth mentioning here that the cases against Nawaz family
stemmed from the Panama Papers leak that disclosed expensive and undeclared property allegedly owned by them in London. Former PM Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain Safdar were convicted and sentenced to prison for ten years, seven years and one year respectively in Avenfield verdict. However, the convictions were suspended by Islamabad High Court and they were released from Adiala jail till final decision. -DNA
