What are we doing?We are wasting our time in futile and fruitless debate, reminiscent of the one into which the religious bigwigs of Irag were engaged when Halagu Khan attacked Baghdad and razed it to the ground.
For many centuries now we have done nothing worthwhile in the scientific field. We are light years behind the West and China in the field of scientific development. Crores of Chinese had been living below the poverty line. Chinese leadership deserves hosannas for ameliorating their lot and improving their economic position. Can’t we take benefit of their experience?
Time is fast running out. The government would have to take it by the forelock. The worrying point is economy. We have to apply out-of-the-box solutions to set it right. The government ought to explain it to the common man as to why due attention is not being given to the documentation of the economy without which correct assessment is simply impossible as to the actual income of the elite class. Why cannot the CNIC be treated as NTN?Why should the elite class be allowed to hide its wealth under the garb of so-called privacy?
Granted that the NAB has been going the whole hog in its effort to bring to book the corrupt element within the society but let us admit the performance of its prosecution branch leaves much to be desired. Most of its high profile cases fail in the trial courts for lack of proper and effective prosecution.
