A couple of days ago a minister of Gilgit and Baltistan roughed up a PIA employee at the Islamabad airport apparently for no fault of his. In return, the victim of his aggression didn’t utter a single word .The video of the incident went viral on the social media. Everybody who saw it berated the minister for his high-handedness. Had it been a truly democratic country, the head of the political party which he belonged to should have immediately called him to the carpet by suspending him from the cabinet .Such type of arrogant persons should have no place in politics,let alone in the government hierarchy.
Sometime back a Balochistan MPA had crushed a traffic constable under the wheels of his Pajero in Quetta. The CCTV had caught the picture of the errant minister himself driving the vehicle as he rode it over the poor chap doing his duty in a police roundabout on the government road. No body knows what finally happened to him. Did the investigating officer get sample of his blood immediately after the incident as chances are that he might have been drunk when he struck down the traffic constable .He too should have been shown the door by the government.
It is a pity that the accused belonging to the elite class are treated quite differently than those belonging the lower or middle class.
The rulers belonging to the government that came to power in 2018 shouldn’t forget that the time is fast running out for them.Honeymoon period is not limitless. Every act of theirs is being minutely scrutinised by the common man. They had better deliver urgently before it is too late. Jury is out.
