Education and health sectors are always given top priority in every social welfare state. We have been hearing since long from the past as well as present rulers that they want to introduce a similar educational system with a unified same syllabus in the country but nobody has elaborated how?
Has the present government done any homework in the matter for ascertaining the principles on which the syllabi of the schools working in the private sector are drafted? Is it not a fact that in many private schools those children aren’t admitted whose parents are illiterate? Is it not correct that the private schools charge an handsome amount as security fee from the children at the time of admission which is then kept in private banks by the school authorities which accrues an handsome income as dividend ?This security amount is seldom returned unless asked for by the students at the time of leaving the schools.Should the schools not also return the income yielded by the security fee along with it when they leave the school on completion of their studies?
The state of affairs that exist in the pharmaceutical industry also leave much to be desired. It has been observed that the price of medicine is upped by the pharmaceutical companies the moment there is increase in the dollar rate in the international market but nobody bothers to reduce its price when there is a slump in dollar rate in the international market.
There are reports that some unscrupulous element in the doctors’ community are in league with some pharmaceutical companies in the promotion of sub-standard drugs. In this connection the Pakistan Medical Association would have to put its foot down and cleanse its rank of the black sheep.
