ISLAMABAD, November 29: Addressing an event organized to highlight his government’s performance in its initial 100 days, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday pledged to improve the taxation system, boost exports, introduce programmes to alleviate poverty and facilitate farmers.
He said the government tried to devise policies within the first 100 days to facilitate the masses.
Improving ties with India is aimed to boost export and increase employment in the country, he said and added he took only one day off within 100 days of his coming to power.
Imran Khan said they are planning to bring health cards to provide better healthcare facilities to the poor. He said his government will spend Rs5 billion to provide houses to the poor.
The prime minister said he has asked all ministries to cut down on their expenditures. The prime minister said that the policies adopted by the government were inspired by the state of Madina. He went on to say that a human can only strive, success is given by Allah Almighty. PM Imran said that the government has decided all poor households will be given health cards, adding that the government is bringing health reforms and health cards. Corruption has ruined the country’s institutions, Khan said. National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is an independent institution, adding that we are not responsible for what anti-graft watchdog does. Everyone including NAB should tolerate criticism, Khan added. PTI government was trying to introduce uniform curriculum across the county, Khan said and added we have made plan on how to bring children back to school. The premier said that the PTI government strengthened the FIA to curb money laundering. He said that agreements with 26 countries to share information and recover assets have also been signed. He said the land worth Rs350 billion has been recovered as part of the anti-encroachment drive launched by the PTI government. The Prime Minister said we also signed an agreement today with Switzerland. He said the information received from 26 countries reveals that 11 billion dollars of Pakistanis are stashed abroad. He said the information on bank accounts in UAE indicates that 1 billion dollars of Pakistani are hidden there. However, the information of Iqama holders is not available. He said Pakistanis invested 9 billion dollars in properties in the UAE during the past some year. The Prime Minister said the FIA so far caught fake accounts of 375 billion rupees. He said PTI government is the first government that is actively taking steps against money laundering.-Agencies
