Top civilian & military leadership resolves not to compromise on internal security

ISLAMABAD, December 18: Top civilian and military leadership Friday expressed resolve that no compromise would be made on the country’s internal security. A high-level meeting to discuss internal security and regional situation especially in context with Afghanistan was held in Islamabad with the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the chair.
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Defence Minister Khawaja Mohammad Asif, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Army Chief General Raheel Sharif, DG ISI Lieutenant General Rizwan Akhtar and senior civil and military officers attended the meeting. The security meeting decided to continue efforts that are being made to establish peace in the region.
The attendees deliberated upon peace process in Afghanistan along with issues pertaining to implementation of the decisions taken at the Heart of Asia summit held recently in Islamabad. During the meeting, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that prosperous and peaceful Afghanistan is in the best interest of the entire region.
He said peace in Pakistan is directly connected with the stability in Afghanistan. The participants also expressed satisfaction over progress made in ongoing Operation Zarb-e-Azb.-DNA
