ISLAMABAD, December 12: The Foreign Office on Wednesday summoned a senior United States diplomat and strongly protested against Pakistan’s induction in a list of ‘countries that violate religious freedom’.
Diplomatic sources told a private TV Channel that a communiqué was also handed to the US official, which elaborates on constitutional rights of religious minorities in Pakistan.
Pakistan did not need counsel by any individual country on how to protect the rights of its minorities, it further reads.
Pakistan maintains that the “proponents of human rights worldwide close their eyes to the systematic persecution of minorities subjected to alien domination and foreign occupation such as in the occupied Jammu and Kashmir.”
The US official assured that Islamabad’s protest and viewpoint will be conveyed to Washington.-Agaencies
