The prime minister must direct the PID to place on his breakfast table every morning a two page summary of all media reports and analysis concerning important national issues. This is necessary because, obviously, he cannot spare time to go through every newspaper or magazine or sit before the idiot box. Time was when the PID used to send a Pakistan Press Report early in the morning to the late prime minister ZA Bhutto. He was so particular about it that it used to be beamed to him through a special broadcast of Radio Pakistan whenever he was on his foreign visits. He used to keep himself abreast of the latest national events.
The PM will be well advised not to depend hundred percent on the official intelligence agencies and he must have his reliable informers throughout the length and breadth of the country who should be in regular communication with him for apprising him about the true sentiments of the common man about the performance of bureaucracy as well as his own ministers. Only through this method he can separate the grain from the chaff.
