The violent activities of the terrorist organisations like the BLA in Balochistan wax eloquent of the fact that the countries hostile to Pakistan don’t want the CPEC to succeed. How can Washington which wants dismemberment of China like the collapse of Soviet Union stomach the fact that once fully operational Gwadar would take Chinese economy to new heights? How can India which wants further break-up of this country see leg-up in Pakistan’s economy?
It goes without saying that Balochistan is the largest province of this country. It is strategically located .Political happenings, good or bad,in neighbouring Iran and Afghan have a direct bearing on the politics of Balochistan. It should have been given special attention by the powers that be.Every ruler of this country has been boasting that his government has done a lot for Balochistan by sanctioning handsome amounts for its developmental sectors though if one looks at the landscape of that province one doesn’t see trace of any developmental activity on ground. If one were to believe them the question that crops up in one’s mind is this:where has this money gone?Isn’t it the right of the Balochis to know the names of projects and place of their locations ?
One is reminded here of former East Pakistan.Granted that it was the machination of India which resulted in its separation from us but let us admit follies of our leadership that ruled the roost between 1951 and 1970 which didn’t mete out justice to the Bengalis in the economic and political fields as a result of which a deep sense of deprivation spread among the Bengalis which was fully exploited by the enemies of this country. We had better avoid committing such mistakes in Balochistan.
