Odds are that this time round Congress might win the polls scheduled next year. It seems that Rahul Gandhi has succeeded winning the hearts of those Indians who are fed up with highly communal politics being practised by Nirendra Modi and his henchmen throughout the length and breadth of India. New Delhi’s image as a secular country stands tarnished as never before in the world. Its atrocities in the Kashmir have turned the occupied valley into a hell. The Muslim world comprises over 50 Islamic countries. Had they acted in unison and sent a strong-worded warning to India in the matter, India would have thought twice before using brute force on the unfortunate Kashmiris whose only fault is that they have been demanding holding of a referendum in the occupied valley for determining whether or not the Kashmiris want to remain in India or join Pakistan.
The so-called National Assembly’s committee for Kashmir Affairs which was headed by Maulana Fazlur Rehman for so many years was a lame duck good-for-nothing Body which did nothing worthwhile. The Maulana was given that position as a political bribe by the government in order to keep him in good humour and on the right side of the government. Nothing more,nothing less. The portfolio of foreign minister was kept vacant by the
former PM intentionally for a long time
not knowing that it would cause tremendous damage to the country in foreign affairs.
It is a pity that our Missions abroad have not been able to project the excesses being committed by India in Kashmir effectively for rousing the conscience of the world community .What good are our press attaches posted abroad in our embassies if they cannot deliver?
