ISLAMABAD, January 24: Finance Minister Asad Umar said on Thursday that the government would not take dictation neither will kneel down before anyone as the economic condition of the country is stabilising.
“Pakistan is a sovereign country, we won’t take anyone’s dictation,” the minister said in a post-budget press conference. “The alarm bell is not ringing anymore.”
Umar said that a roadmap has been adopted by the government to improve the country’s economy, adding that the government discussed financing agreement in recent China visit. “A perception is built that the government failed in talks before we even conclude our visit.”
The finance minister said that no new tax was imposed in the recent budget.
“Changes never seen before will be seen in this parliament’s tenure. In three-week time the stock exchange hit 3000 indexes,” he said. Umar said that revenues won’t shrink down due to the government’s measures.
Advisor to the premier on the economy, Abdul Razzak Dawood, announced that a delegation will visit China in a week time.-Agencies
