THIS IS MY STORY—80
MY JOURNEY THROUGH THE ERA OF AYUB KHAN TO THE TIMES OF IMRAN KHAN.
GHULAM AKBAR……..
Journey to Mashriq
There was a storm in my mind, in my whole being, as I walked out of the PML Headquarters. Destiny had delivered a deadly blow to my dreams. The thought that I had let down my beloved uncle Nasim Hijazi by not rising to the occasion, and not doing enough to save what was the acknowledged ACHIEVEMENT of his lifetime struggle was heart-reading. He was not an old man at that time. At 53 he was bursting with energy. And his novels sold like hotcakes. But to rebuild a institution of the dimensions of Daily Kohistan, without the Herculean will of Enayat Sahib behind him was practically unthinkable.
” But I promise you Mamoon Jan, I will dedicate my whole life to the realisation of this goal. Another Kohistan will rise from the ashes of this one which will be a befitting homage to the great contribution your have made in the cause of making Pakistan a citadel of Islam.” I spoke in my mind, to the man who had been my inspiration.
This pledge to this day remains burning in my soul, and my only regret is that I have failed in this mission of mine.
Next day Enayatullah Sahib learnt that I had declined the offer of Malik Khuda Bux Bucha (the Provincial PML Chief) to continue as Executive Editor of Kohistan. He sent me a message:
Meet me at 11 O’ clock in the morning tomorrow in Mashriq’s office”.
