34 US lawmakers have very rightly taken note of the grown and growing violence and discrimination by the BJP activists against the various religious minorities in India. Not only the Muslims but other minorities are also being maltreated in India which claims itself to be the champion of human rights and democracy. Modi and his henchmen have lived up to their reputation of religious fanatics after coming into power . Granted that the previous governments in India belonging to other political parties were also no better when it came to their treatment of the Muslims but the present BJP government has shamed all of them when one considers their attitude to the Muslim community living in India.
Modi is, perhaps, the only prime minister of India who was given the title of Muslim basher while he was chief minister of Gujerat. When he was CM Gujerat he was instrumental in killing hundreds of muslims in that province. He hasn’t changed his mindset even after becoming prime minister of India. Let us admit that we have not been able to highlight anti-muslim policies of Modi and his cronies to the extent they were needed to be exposed to the world. Our Foreign office had better jog into action and launch a diplomatic offensive in all the major capitals of the world spotlighting the pitiable condition in which the Muslims in India are being made to live by the Hindu majority and their duplicity in the matter of beef. Even the Muslim film icons who have contributed so much to the promotion of Bollywood in the entire world and who have been instrumental in providing entertainment to their audience, including the Hindus were not spared and nefarious propaganda was made against them also. The ban on eating of beef is a classic example of double dealing which is ingrained in the psychology of Hindus. While on the one hand, they don’t feel any qualms in slaughtering cows for exporting beef which is one of its biggest foreign exchange earning, on the other, they raise a hullabaloo whenever any Muslim slaughter a cow for eating its meat.
