ISLAMABAD, February 17: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman said on Sunday that the first phase of investment has been completed in Pakistan, which is worth $20 billion.
On Sunday, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammad bin Salman reached Islamabad on a two-day official visit to Pakistan on the invitation of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
While addressing a ceremony at the PM House to sign Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) between the two countries, the prince said that the investment will prove fruitful for both Pakistan and the Kingdom.
“Pakistani leadership is impressive and the country’s future seems quite bright,” said the crown prince.
Prince Salman said that Pakistan is a very important country for Saudi Arabia and he was very pleased to visit the country.
He said that the kingdom will invest further in the country.
The Saudi crown prince was given a historic welcome upon his arrival. After reaching the country, the prime minister himself drove the Saudi crown prince in a car to the PM House, where he was presented a guard of honour.
At the PM House, MoUs were signed between the two countries in diverse sectors. The ceremony was witnessed by the crown prince and PM Imran.
PM Imran, while addressing the MoU-signing ceremony, said that Saudi Arabia and Pakistan always enjoyed brotherly relations. “Saudi Arabia always stood beside Pakistan in difficult times.”
The prime minister said that the two countries need to extend cooperation in tourism, petrochemicals, and other fields.
“We are taking Pak-Saudi ties to its zenith,” said the PM, adding that in future the relations would reach new heights.
Earlier, the Saudi crown prince was warmly welcomed in airspace of Pakistan and a formation of JF-17 Thunder and F-16 fighter jets escorted the jet of the crown prince when it entered the airspace of Pakistan. The security of the Saudi Crown Prince took care by Triple-1 Brigade.
The Saudi crown prince was given a 21-gun salute. The prime minister drove the crown prince to PM’s House himself, as same like he did with the UAE crown prince.
The Saudi Crown prince was presented guard of honour by the troops of joint forces. During the ceremony, the crown prince introduced his high-powered delegation to Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, Prime Minister Imran Khan among his cabinet received the crown prince at Noor Khan Airbase.
The Saudi crown prince accompanied by a high-powered delegation, including members of Saudi Royal family, key ministers and leading businessmen. The Saudi ministers accompanying the crown prince will meet their counterparts to discuss bilateral cooperation in their respective fields.
It is worth mentioning here that this will be the first state-level visit of the dignitary to Pakistan since his elevation to the position of the Crown Prince in April 2017.
In the first plane before arrival of the Saudi prince, Saudi Minister for Foreign Affairs Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir landed in Islamabad at Noor Khan Airbase.
The Saudi foreign minister was received by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi. Ten aeroplanes carrying Saudi dignitaries have arrived at the Noor Khan Airbase.-Agencies
