Imran Khan is also confronted with almost the same type of opposition which was faced by Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto back in early 1970s, but despite this fact,it goes to the credit of the founder of the PPP that through his political acumen he did manage to make the leaders of all the opposition parties of his time agree to sign on the draft of 1973 constitution unanimously through negotiations.
The present rulers also need display of similar political skill in dealing with the opposition parties in parliament as nothing concrete has been done hitherto, insofar,as legislation is concernced .
The PM must keep a vigilant eyes on those within his political party who had advised him not to invite the political leaders of the opposition for participating in various receptions held in the federal capital in the honour of the Saudi Crown prince. With friends like these ,who needs enemies. In a parliamentary democracy the ruling party has to go the whole hog in its effort to take all the political parties present in parliament on board, otherwise, parliamentary democracy is bound to hit a snag.
The recent verdict of Supreme Court on the Faizabad’s sit-in of 2017 was a sad reflection on the way the administration tackled it.It was rightly observed in it that the pioneers of the said sit-in spread sectarian hatred and indulged in terrorism damaging property worth 16 crore rupees, besides, crippling the daily commercial activity as a result of which loss worth billion of rupees occurred to the national economy. The local administration’s attitude towards the protestors was rather lukewarm. The question is would the present government taking a lesson from this verdict of the apex court now make an example of the leaders of this sit-in against whom cases have been registered and who are now under trial by ensuring that they don’t get away with their crime lightly?
