Pakistan has a unique geographical location. We share borders with Afghanistan, Iran, India and China and a narrow corridor separates us from Tajikistan. While we have never experienced any difficulty on our borders touching with China or Tajikistan the situation has not been to our liking always on our borders with the rest of our above-mentioned neighbours. India has been constantly a source of headache for us since 1947 and so is the case with our border with Afghanistan where the situation has deteriorated to the extent that we were forced to fence the Durand line. It is a pity that Kabul has been playing into the hands of New Delhi right since 1947 despite the fact that Afghanistan and Pakistan are Muslim countries having common faith and religion.
Lately, the commander of the Pasdaran Iran has said that the militants who killed some members of Pasdaran Iran recently in Iran were being provided sanctuary by the security forces of Pakistan and has threatened that they would retaliate against them if the Pakistani authorities didn’t take action against them.
It would have been better if instead of sabre rattling, the commander of the Pasdaran Iran had first thoroughly applied his mind to the facts of the incident in question and presented solid proof for substantiating his allegation . How can Pakistan encourage any non-state actor to indulge in terrorism in Iran with which Pakistan enjoys brotherly ties?
We simply cannot think of disturbing the peace and tranquility of Iran . Needless to say there are some political forces in this region who want to create discord and misunderstanding between Islamabad and Tehran and both Pakistan and Iran should be mindful of them.
