- Khursheed Shah says only political leaders are being held accountable

ISLAMABAD, February 21: The National Assembly session on Thursday was abruptly adjourned after opposition members protesting agaisnt the arrest of Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Hussain Durrani raised a ruckus in the House to prevent former speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza from addressing the assembly. Due to the aggressive attitude of the opposition members it had become difficult for speaker to run the proceedings of the house. Instead of desire, Prime Minister Imran Khan could also not attend the national assembly session. According to the sources the opposition protest has become hurdle in the way of prime minister to attend the NA session. The opposition has decided to continue the protest attitude in the NA. Condemning the arrest, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) veteran leader Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah said that only political leaders are being held accountable. Shah strongly condemned arrest of Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani and asked, “Is this new Pakistan in which respected leaders are being detained in humiliating ways?”
Mr Speaker! You should also be careful as it is new Pakistan and anything can be possible in it, he said to NA Sepaker Asad Qaisar. Former Opposition Leader in NA said that PPP has always worked for the benefit of the nation. -Sabah
