Imran Khan deserves hosannas for his statesmanlike approach to the war hysteria generated by Modi in the sub-continent, lately, as a result of which Pakistan and India almost came close to the brink of war last week. Even now it cannot be said with certainty that there won’t be a war between them. Modi and persons of his ilk have completely washed away the so-called secular image of India which the Indian Congress party had so assiduously tried to build.
Time alone will tell whether Modi’s Janata party is going to win or lose the forthcoming general elections. It would be a sad day for the civilised world if the Indians vote it into power only because of its war-mongering posture against Pakistan and, particularly, against the Muslims of the sub-continent. Let us hope saner counsel would prevail among all and sundry in India who must have, by now, realised that use of force by India either against the Kashmiri freedom fighters or against the state of Pakistan is going to take India nowhere. The befitting reply which the PAF gave to the IAF last week has once again proved, if any proof was required, that the PAF stands head and shoulders above its Indian counterpart and that whosoever thinks that Pakistan can be cowed down through use of brute force is living in a fool’s paradise.
It was a pity that many Muslim countries have been keeping their mouths shut over the ghastly acts of violence being committed by the Indians in the occupied Kashmir. Whenever they talk about Kashmir they speak tongue in cheek which is deplorable keeping in view the fact that Pakistan has always been in the forefront to openly protest whenever and wherever it saw atrocities being committed on the Muslims anywhere in the world.
