KARACHI Flamboyant Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Khan Afridi is celebrating his 36th birthday today (Tuesday). Also known as Lala, the charismatic cricketer was born in Khyber Agency in 1980.
Alignment of stars may not seem in his favour for the time being, for he has faced fierce criticism due to his dismal performance recently, but it is also a fact that Afridi has been the most lovable cricketer in Pakistan for two decades.
Pakistan’s T20 skipper made his debut in 1996 and went on to grab the record for the fastest ODI century, which he held for a long time before Corey Anderson broke it.
Afiridi founded a non-profit organization (NGO) in 2014 to provide healthcare, education and sports facilities in Pakistan and around the word.
He is also an ambassador of polio campaigns in Pakistan. -Agencies
