KARACHI, December 20: Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali on Saturday stated that the judiciary in Pakistan is not under any kind of pressure. Jamali added that those who say this have their own interests or weaknesses.
The Chief Justice was addressing a seminar held in Governor House, Karachi on the role of Ombudsman in providing administrative justice. The seminar was attended by Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ibad, Chief Justice Jamali, Chief Justice Sindh High Court Sajjad Ali Shah and Provincial Ombudsman Sindh Asad Ashraf Malik.
Addressing the seminar, Jamali stated that the judiciary is responsible for interpretation of the legislation but not the legislation itself.
He further added that 65,000 requests in Supreme Court’s Human Right Seal were dealt with since past 23 months.
Jamali also stated that Provincial Ombudsman Sindh’s services in providing justice were commendable.
