Despite Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s best efforts he hasn’t been able hitherto to make the PPP or Nawaz League agree on launching street agitation against the government. The leaders of both these political parties are sensible enough to realise that the hot summer in the country isn’t suitable to bring people on the roads. Besides, the people would be busy in two Eids and Moharram which fall in the summer season this year meaning thereby that before coming September it would be an exercise in futility should anyone try holding political rallies or sit-ins. They are also waiting to see the announcement of annual budget for 2019-20 due soon.
One is not sure about the possible behind-the-curtain political hobnobbing that might be going on among the various stakeholders in power and the Establishment about the future role of leaders of the above-mentioned political leaders because strange and unexpected things did happen in the past in this country and who knows history might repeat itself. To live and let-others-live has been a favourite past time among those who have been moving in the corridors of power in this country.
Though Imran Khan has been quite adamant up till now in hitting it off with the leaders of the above mentioned two political parties but, as they say , there is no last word in politics , which is the game of probabilities , who knows at the end of the day he might one fine morning adopt a different course of action against them as he has been shifting his stand quite frequently on many political, financial and administrative issues since he came to power?
