It goes without saying that America is generously funding all kinds of efforts, endeavours and projects to ‘liberalize’ Pakistan’s society, and to ‘loosen’ the hold of ‘Islam’ on the minds of its citizens.
Big investments in this context have been made in the ‘intricate’ and ‘crucial’ world of the media. Some powerful media houses are benefiting indirectly from the overzealous generosity of the U.S ‘philanthropists’. And in some cases perfectly ‘legitimate’ and direct ways and means have been found to make life considerably ‘more comfortable’ for many such journalists who are carrying out the’ responsibility’ of throwing light on the’ darker’ side of our society with ‘crusading’ zeal. Linking Islam with various’ social ‘evils’ is a favorite theme of these Crusading Liberals functioning in the garbs of investigative journalism.
In the recent days there has been a lot of talk regarding AA M (America Abroad Media) a State Department -funded outfit that rewards ‘outstanding’ journalists with wages, perks and other benefits. There was a ‘leak’ in the media that some such journalists were associated with Express News and Dunya News. Somehow Mr Najam Sethi also got involved in this controversy. And who doesn’t know where Mr Sethi’s heart lies?. There is an organized campaign on the Twitter these days that the ‘Right Wing’ vagabonds have been let loose on Mr Najam Sethi to ‘bash’ him for his noble’ campaign’ to tell ‘truth’ and nothing but the truth to the people of Pakistan.
At the moment it is merely a war of words. But soon the world is going to witness a classical battle in Pakistan for the hearts and the minds of the people. Will they succeed in beating the unbeatable Islam?
