The former Nigerian ruler , like our many rulers, had also stacked a big amount of money in the Swiss banks after indulging in massive corruption while in power. The present Nigerian ruler deserves hosannas that he not successfully managed to recover a sizeable portion of it out of the embezzled amount, but also distributed it to about three lac poor families of Nigeria. If he could manage it, why cannot our rulers do the same?
It is a tragedy of the first magnitude that in this country the financially corrupt whether they were politicians or bureaucrats seldom got their just deserts. More often than not, they got away with lightly and neither the money embezzled by them was recovered from them nor property bought by them was confiscated to the state and put to open auction and that was the precise reason why the financial corruption could not be rooted out from our society. Now that the present PM is determined to make the corrupt cough out the embezzled money he needs full support of all and sundry.
