ISLAMABAD, May 31: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Friday has said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz expressed her frustration with indecent language.
In a tweet, Dr Firdous said that Maryam Nawaz is afraid of Imran Khan’s success as prime minister.
Earlier, Dr Firdous said the purpose of amnesty scheme was to provide an opportunity to the people for legalization of their black and grey money.
She said the present government wanted to bring back the money of those hiding their suspicious accounts abroad. This step would help reduce inflation besides improving the national economy, she added.
The special assistant said that those found involved in concealing their accounts abroad, would be dealt with iron hands.
She said the government will announce new advertisement policy in the next few weeks after consultation with all the stakeholders.
She was speaking at a ceremony in Islamabad on Friday in connection with the release of advertisement funds to the media houses. The special assistant said the new advertisement policy will ensure protection of rights of media workers and their job and social security.
Firdous Ashiq Awan said the federal government is releasing today an outstanding amount of 190 million rupees to the media houses and it will gradually clear the entire pending amount.
She pointed out that the Punjab government has already released funds to the media houses while the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will also release the funds very soon.
The special assistant urged the media owners to release salaries to the media workers before Eid-ul-Fitr. She said an independent and sovereign media is important to strengthen the foundations of Naya Pakistan. -Agencies
