- Strategy chalked out to quell possible protests announced by lawyers on June 14
ISLAMABAD , June 9: Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh and State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor Reza Baqir on Sunday called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad.
Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) chairman Shabbar Zaidi and other economic experts were also present in the meeting.
During the meeting, the economic team briefed the prime minister about the budget proposals. The team also apprised Imran Khan about taxes and targets in the federal budget 2019-20.
Speaking on the occasion, the prime minister directed the team to facilitate the lower class in the budget, adding that the budget should be people-friendly keeping in view economic stability.
During the meeting a strategy has been adopted to quell possible protest announced by the lawyers community against the Government on June 14.
Federal budget for the next fiscal year will be presented in the National Assembly on Tuesday.
Prime Minister s Advisor on Finance Dr. Hafeez Shaikh will present the budget emphasizing on austerity, fiscal discipline, external sector management and protection of the poor.
In this connection, President Dr Arif Alvi has summoned the session of National Assembly to meet at Parliament House in Islamabad tomorrow at four in the afternoon.-Agencies
