KARACHI/LAHORE, June 10: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has announced to observe Tuesday, (June 11) as a Black Day against the arrest of former president Asif Ali Zardari.
PPP Sindh President Nisar Khuhro said party workers would wear black arm bands at the district headquarters across the province to protest against the arrest of Asif Ali Zardari.
We respect the court decisions, however, we have the right to protest peacefully against the controversial judgements, the PPP Sindh President said. He said PTI government could not hide its incompetence by arresting opposition leaders.
National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has arrested Asif Ali Zardari after Islamabad High Court on Monday rejected bail application of Zardari and his sibling Faryal Talpur in mega money laundering case.
PPP Co-Chairman was taken into custody from Zardari House Islamabad. He was shifted to NAB headquarters Rawalpindi. The NAB team did not arrest Faryal Talpur though.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Aamir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Kiani of the IHC gave the verdict on the petitions after hearing arguments from both sides. Meanwhile, the workers
of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) protested in different cities over the arrest of Asif Ali Zardari in fake accounts case. The PPP workers raised anti NAB and anti government slogans.
PPP workers held a rally in Gujranwala to protest against the arrest of PPP co-chairman. The protesters carried placards and party flags and chanted Aik Zardari Sb Pe Bhari.
A protest was also lodged in Hyderabad over Zardari’s arrest. The workers of PPP youth council gathered in front of district council and raised anti government slogans.
Meanwhile, in Lahore protest was recorded on 9 different places. Faisal Mir led a protest at Gulab Devi metro station. The roads blocked after PPP workers burnt tires. Metro service remained blocked due to the protest.
Larkana workers also protested over the arrest of Asif Ali Zardari. The protestors forced the shopkeepers to shut their shops.-Agencies
