BISHKEK, June 14: Pakistan PM Imran Khan has said that his country was ready to share its “experience and expertise in counter-terrorism.”
“We are among the few countries to have successfully turned the tide against terrorism,” the Pak PM said, adding,”we will remain actively engaged in SCO’s counter-terrorism initiatives.” The Prime Minister addressed the SCO summit leaders in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on Friday.
“Threats from terrorism to climate change to narcotics to bacterial resistance continue to loom large,” he held. On developments in Afghanistan, the Pakistan prime minister said the conflict has “no military solution”.
“Pakistan is fully supporting efforts for peace and reconciliation through an “Afghan-led and Afghan-owned process”, he said. “There is finally a realisation that the conflict in Afghanistan has no military solution.”
“Pakistan’s foreign policy is anchored on the inextricable link between peace and development,” the Pak prime minister told SCO member nations. “We build partnerships based on mutual respect, sovereign equality and equal benefit,” he asserted.
The Pakistan prime minister in his speech lauded the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor(CPEC) calling it a “flagship project of President Xi’s far-sighted Belt and Road Initiative.”
“Gwadar Port at its southern end marks the only point of convergence of the maritime Belt and overland road,” Imran said in his speech. “In time, CPEC is destined to catalyse the creation of an integrated pan-Asian sphere of shared prosperity,” the Pakistan prime minister added.
On the second day of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, Prime Minister Imran Khan proposed to formulate a substantial framework to eradicate corruption and white-collar crimes.
The prime minister urged the SCO to play its role in the resolution of conflicts and curbing corruption. A strong framework should be developed against corruption and white-collar crimes, PM Khan stressed during his speech.
He also suggested establishing the SCO cultural and tourism corridor for improving mutual contacts between the member countries of the club. In the fields of food security and health, the cooperation among member countries should pace up, PM Khan continued. Highlighting the achievements of Pakistan against the war on terror, he said: “our country is a part of the anti-terrorism program of the SCO.”

The two world leaders were engaging in conversation on several occasions. Of world leaders present at the SCO meeting, Prime Minister Imran Khan interacted with President Putin the most. During lunch on Friday, Prime Minister Imran Khan and Russian President Vladimir Putin also sat next to each other and continued to be engaged in conversation.
