ISLAMABAD, June 17: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan has stated that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led government will get the federal budget 2019-20 passed on the basis of its numerical majority in the National Assembly.
In an interview with a private television channel on Monday morning, she said the opposition parties and other parliamentarians must also realize that the passage of the budget is a constitutional and national requirement and creating any hurdle in this regard is violation of the constitution which is against the democratic norms. The Special Assistant noted that the people will not take to the streets on the call of the opposition parties.
She said both the PML (N) and the PPP are responsible for the problems faced by the country and the people today.
Firdous Ashiq Awan further stated that the army has refused to take development budget which is unique precedent instead lauding the step opposition is hampering economic development in the country.
She stated that the opposition has right to criticize the government policies in a constructive way but blind criticism is against not only the democracy but also principle laid out by Pakistan’s founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
She, however, said that it is our desire to engage with the opposition and steer the country out of challenges.-NNI
