In today’s world, economic sanctions hurt a country more than military aggression. Examples of Iran , North Korea and Russia can be cited to substantiate this statement. These three countries have been bled white by the UN sanctions for different reasons. Iran and North Korea have paid a heavy price for their nuclear proliferation programmes while Russia is being made to suffer because of its military adventure in Crimea.
Once a country comes within the mischief of UN sanctions, no country in the world can dare to help it economically in any way. It is a sort of its social boycott at the international level and any country which helps assist economically the country against which economic sanctions have been slapped by the UN also makes itself liable for a similar treatment by the UN. Iran is a business partner of Iran in Chahbahar international seaport but such was the political pressure of the UN sanctions that it had to stop buying fuel from it.
The Russian foreign minister was frank to publicly admit recently that his country has starting feeling pain of UN sanctions. The North Korean young dictator has taken his country to the brink of disaster due to his arbitrary policies as a result of which no country in the world invests in North Korea nor does provide it with any economic assistance and it hasn’t got enough money in its coffer to go round.
