Most of the spies who are caught red-handed by the authorities of the country they were spying on end up miserably in clinker where they are destined to live the rest of their life. If for one reason or the other, they escape guillotine , they are sentenced to life imprisonment instead.. If they are returned to the country which had deputed them for spying, it also doesn’t look on them with approving eyes after their return back home because it suspects they might have been won over by the country they were deputed to spy on and they might have now become double agents for passing on the state secrets of their country to their enemy country.
Kalbushan has, for the time being escaped gallows —- thanks to the recent verdict of the International Court of Justice at The Hague. Time alone will, however, tell whether he is to be hanged or his death penalty is going to be converted to life imprisonment.
If any proof was required that India has been spreading terrorism inside Pakistan his arrest did provide it. It must open the eyes of the world community as well as those in this country who nurse a soft corner for New Delhi in their heart. One would have expected that after the rejection of the Indian stand on his arrest by the International Court of Justice, all the political parties en masse would, with one voice, condemn New Delhi for masterminding terrorism in this country through its spies like Kalbhushan but barring an odd political party most of them have said nothing doing and have hitherto kept a mysterious silence on it which is unfortunate to say the least.
