Shah Mahmood Qureshi hit the nail on the head when he said recently that no body should expect that we would be welcomed with garlands in the security council.The people who talk a lot of the Ummah conveniently forget that the protectors of ummah have invested heavily in India meaning thereby that they have created their vested interest in India which they cannot displease .Truer words were never spoken.Isn’t it a fact that amongst the purchasers of oil from Iran, India is its second biggest customer?Didn’t India invest heavily in the Iranian seaport at Chahbahar ?Didn’t India enter into a massive bilateral agreement with Riyadh recently under which it is to carry out bilateral trade with Saudi Arabia in petrochemical ,power and textile industry worth billions of dollars?
Among the security council member countries it is China only which has always been steadfast in its support to us over Kashmir and we can bank on its support in future also.About the other the least said the better.One shouldn’t expect any other member of the security council to show any enthusiasm on Pakistan’s request.They would never pull their weight in the matter for the cause of hapless Kashmiris.
It goes without saying that the Indians have been opposing a fresh debate on the issue in the UN by taking refuge behind the ruse that under the Simla Accord Pakistan is supposed to talk directly to India on bilateral issues but now when it has itself blown to smithereens the Simla Accord by its unilateral action on Kashmir ‘s status on 5 th August 2019 it doesn’t lie in its mouth to harp on the tune of Simla Accord anymore.Now Pakistan is well justified to invoke the jurisdiction of the UN for spotlighting the brutalities of the Indian army on the Kashmiri freedom fighters and on New Delhi’s controversial order of 5 th August 2019 regarding the special status of Kashmir.
