The statement of IG KPK that some terrorists are again raising their ugly heads in Malakand should be a source of concern for the well wishers of this country. In the not-too-distant past, the armed forces had crushed the open rebellion of Mullah Fazlullah and his henchmen after which he made good his escape to Afghanistan where he was later on killed in a drone attack. He was son-in-law of Sufi Noor Mohamnad who too wanted his own brand of religion imposed on Malakand. But for lukewarm treatment meted out to Mullah Fazlullah by the then JUI(f) government of the KPK, he would not have gained much ground in Swat.
Let us admit that India is not going to sit on its haunches and desist from creating trouble inside Pakistan. Its anti-Pakistan activities continue in Balochistan and it is busy in stirring trouble in Malakand too. The government must heed to the timely warning of IG KPK The evil needs to be nipped in the bud before it spreads its roots far and wide. Though Mullah Fazlullah has met his just deserts but some of the remnants of his group who had fled to Afghanistan along with him after the military operation against his hide out are still alive. They need to be singled out and then eliminated, otherwise, they would pose a constant threat to law and order in Malakand.
