The political workers of political parties are just like fodder in a cannon It is on their strength that the leaders of political parties thrive. It is they who are always in the forefront whether there is any protest procession or public meeting of their political party. It is they who face lathicharge, tear gas shelling and even bullets of the law and order agencies on their chest as they are always in the vanguard of protest processions of their parties on the government roads.
Experience of hindsight reveals that they always remain workers from cradle to grave. The heads of their political parties never consider them fit enough to be honoured with any important administrative job within the party. They are seldom given party ticket to contest polls for becoming member of assemblies or senate. Not that all of them are illiterate. Many of them are well read persons too. It is common knowledge that many of them sacrifice whatever little source of livelihood they have by not giving much time to it and instead devote their entire attention to their party’s work.
It goes without saying that the model or brand of parliamentary democracy being practised in this country suits only the filthy rich in which the common man has no place, whatever.
The workers , by and large, follow the style of public address of their party leaders. If their leaders instead of discussing national issues indulge in polemics against their political adversaries the workers too would follow them , hook, line and sinker thus making the political atmosphere of the country dense and tense.
