UNITED NATIONS, September 24: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday criticised the international community for failing to pay attention to Kashmir conflict, and urged dialogue for the solution of decades-long row between Pakistan and India.
In his address at UN General Assembly session in New York, Erdogan said the stability and prosperity of South Asia cannot be separated from the Kashmir issue, which awaits solution for 72 years.
“In order for the Kashmiri people to look at a safe future together with their Pakistani and Indian neighbours, it is imperative to solve the problem through dialogue and on the basis of justice and equity, but not through collision,” said Erdogan.
The India occupied region has been facing a clampdown since August, 5 when the Indian government nixed Article 370 of the Indian constitution, which conferred a special status on it.
Hundreds of people, mostly political leaders, have been detained or arrested by authorities since the Narendra Modi-led government unilateral move.
Prime Minister Imran Khan will highlight the occupation forces atrocities in IOK during his address to the UN General Assembly on September 27.
President Erdogan said nuclear power should either be free for all states or banned completely, and warned that the “inequality” between states who have nuclear power and who do not undermines global balances.
“The position of nuclear power should either be forbidden for all or permissible for everyone,” he said.-Agencies
