The preparations for Pakistan-Sri Lanka series at National Stadium Karachi (NSK) have almost been completed and the historic venue is all set to stage unforgettable scenes.
ODI cricket is all set to return at this ground after the gap of 10 years. Last time, Pakistan played the same opponent [Sri Lanka] in an ODI series back in 2009. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is confident to make this event more successful than this year’s Pakistan Super League (PSL) and looking forward to hosting some high-profile international teams in the near future. In the ground, from groundsmen to the law enforcement agencies, all are busy in setting up the high standards for the series slated to start from September 27.
Groundsmen were seen clearing the outfield filled with water after heavy rainfall hit the metropolis on Tuesday’s afternoon. The rain brings a wake-up call for the authorities as according to the Pakistan Metrological Department (MET), the current rainfall spell is expected to continue till Sunday. Meanwhile, the groundsmen are confident to maintain the ground for the series. “We are prepared to deal with every possible roadblock. We have already covered the square and pitch and we are confident that the outfield’s condition will be all set by Friday,” a groundsman said while talking to the ARY Sports.
On the other hand, a remote hospital has also been set up at Hanif Mohammad High-Performance Centre for an emergency. A six-bed remote hospital will be supervised by five doctors. In case of any emergency, the initial treatment will be easier at this temporary hospital.
