KPK Senior Minister agrees with Dairy Science Park Board for Halal Meat Export

PESHAWAR, March 6: A meeting of the representatives of the Department of the Local Government, Election and Rural Government Department; Agriculture, Livestock and Cooperatives Department, the University of Agriculture Peshawar and the private sector was held on sunday chaired by the Senior Minister, LGE&RD, Mr Inayatullah Khan. The Senior Minister appreciated the progress so far and directed for initiation of a summary for approval of the Chief Minister, regarding academic component at the University of Agriculture Peshawar and an autonomous DSP Board for boosting Halal meat export.
The meeting was attended by Mr Mohibullah Khan, Special Assistant to Chief Minister (Livestock and Fisheries); Syed Jamal ud Din Shah, Secretary, LGE&RD; Prof M Subhan Qureshi, Dean FAHVS UAP/Chief Patron Dairy Science Park; Dr Sher Muhammad Director General Ext L&DD, Dr Ahmad Naveed, Director General Res Lⅅ representative the Secretary, Industries Department; Dr Pervez Shah, DP L&DD Research; Prof Umer Sadique, Chairman AH, UAP; Mr Sajjad Khan, PS to Senior Minister LGE&RD; S Murtaza Shah, Deputy Director Planning, Agriculture Department; Mrs Nighat Jawaid, Chief Executive, Farmer’s Sausage Factory, Hayatabad/Member Livestock and Dairy Board, Government of Pakistan; Mr Zafar Hussain Paracha, Chief Executive, Dairy Life; Riaz Hussain Paracha, FP DSP Canada; Mr Kamran Khan, Chief Executive Royal Dairy and Foods, Hayatabad; Mr Irfan ul Haq Qureshi, Chief Executive, Dairy Science Park; Mr Khanzada Ahmad Kamal Khan, CE, Silage Factory Mardan and Dr Yasar Yousafzai, Khyber Medical University, Hayatabad, Peshawar.The Senior Minister appreciated the concept of the Dairy Science Park to support the farmers’ income, value addition in the province, self-employment to the youth and hygienic food production for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Several meetings have been held on the subject during a period of more than an year and an ongoing project of Rs.200 million is supported under ADP for establishment of Slaughter House. Peshawar Development Authority is implementing the project and the Dairy Science Park team will assist them in ensuring quality standards, support the supply line, marketing linkages and human resource development into the system. A separate meeting will be held between the relevant authorities.Prof M Subhan Qureshi presented the plan for implementing the Diary Science Park. Sufficient progress has been made under the Park so far. Seven companies have been established including Dairy Life Cattle Feed, Farmers Sausage Company, Royal Dairies, DSP Innovations, Meat Park, Silage Factory, and unemployed vets forum. Quality Standards have been developed and implemented at the farms and factories. Collaboration has been made with the US Department of States for Biorisk Management, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences for industrial research, Khyber Medical University for public health initiatives and Pakistan Army for introduction of elite semen to medium sized farms and export. A proposal was presented comprising construction of an Academic Block, support to the DSP Society, technical and marketing support to livestock entrepreneurs under an Endowment Fund and promulgation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dairy Science Park Authority Act.-PR
