RAWALPINDI, October 7: US Senators Chris Van Hollen and Maggi Hassan on Monday called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at GHQ.
In a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), matters pertaining to mutual interest and overall regional security situation including the Afghan reconciliation process and Kashmir issue were discussed, during the meeting.
The visiting dignitaries acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts for regional peace and stability.
The COAS appreciated the US understanding and support on all the need for resolving the Kashmir issue and for Pakistan’s efforts in Afghanistan.
Both sides stressed upon importance of strong bilateral relationship between the United States and Pakistan in and beyond security cooperation.
The US Chargé d’Affaires Ambassador Paul Jones was also present in the meeting.-Agencies
