ISLAMABAD, October 9: Police on Wednesday blocked the protesters after their attempt to enter into Red Zone and stage protest in front of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) office.
Huge contingent of police have been deployed and the roads leading to the Red Zone have been closed.
Hundreds of the protesting traders demanded to stage protest in front of FBR office.They staged a demonstration in Islamabad to protest tax reforms introduced by the government.
The All Pakistan Traders Association organised a march from Rawalpindi to Islamabad. A large number of businessmen and traders
participated in the demonstration. The protesting traders attempted to move towards the Federal Board of Revenue’s office.
They also demanded the government to fulfill its promise of fixed tax, adding that the tax officials were harassing them.
The protesters said that the protest will continue till the demands are met, adding that the FBR chairman to himself come for the dialogues.
Situation becomes tense when police tried to disperse the protestors when they started walking towards the Red Zone. The police stopped the protesters at the Serena Chowk. A few enraged protesters attempted to cause damage to the public property and vehicles parked nearby. – NNI
