SRINAGAR, March 6: The All Parties Hurriyet Conference (G) Chairman, Syed Ali Geelani has urged the United Nations to impress upon India to stop use of lethal weapons in occupied Kashmir, which are adversely affecting children in the territory.
Syed Ali Geelani was reacting to the reports about the loss of hand of a 12-year-old boy in an explosion of unexploded teargas shell in Rainawari area of Srinagar.
In a statement in Srinagar, he said that Jammu and Kashmir had been turned into a virtual police state where personnel of Indian Armed forces were committing crimes against humanity with total impunity. The APHC Chairman emphasized that the UNICEF must take cognizance of the victimization of the children by occupation forces in the territory.
Meanwhile shutdown marked by forceful anti-Indian protest demonstrations held in Tral area of Pulwama district on Sunday against the recent killing of three youth by Indian troops. Despite massive deployment of army and police, people came out on the streets in Laribal, Dadsara and Charsoo areas of the town and raised anti-India and pro-freedom slogans. Hurriyet leader Zafar Akbar Butt participated in the protests.
A protest demonstration was held in Sumbal area of Bandipora district against failure of police in tracing a youth, who went missing on Friday under mysterious circumstances. The protesters blocked Bandipora-Srinagar highway for several hours.-Sabah
