We think of weddings we think of dance, music, food and beautiful dresses. We think of the perfect outfit and focus on all the nitty gritty but that’s not all a wedding is now. It’s the tension of reaching the venue, the expenses required to make that grand function even grandeur . The thing is in the limelight of attending a close wedding we forget about what happens once the lights turn off when the music softens and you can look at the result its nothing more than wasted money, people’s complaints over food and a handful of regret, that can easily overshadow the brightness of the event, but that isn’t the only experience of the wedding. its when you get cards near the end of the month and the first thought you have is not “what will you wear!!” but how will you manage the “salami” since you bought the groceries for the month the kids fees the bills do you have enough money to give a decent salami because showoff is an important part of our society. once you have that settled and you Mix and match an outfit you need to figure out how to get to the venue and most people don’t have vehicles that can fit in their far to huge families so now we are calling cab services and pulling in favors from other people and the stress is palpitable. Yet some how miraculously you get to the event in your fancy car, Makeup intact dress impeccable and a lot of fighting over “these idiots can’t drive. STAYYY ON YOUR LANE” and other colorful road rage episodes. you are at the event you will now click as many pictures as you physically can and then sit down and wait not for the beautiful bride who’s makeup and dress costed her family a pretty penny nor the groom who is showing off his dashing debonair ways but for the Food, clearly people have there priorities straight so now while you wait for the idiots to be done with there RASAMEIN you complain on the families makeup the brides nose the grooms height and as soon as the foods served not even look at them again because new topic. you will pile up heaps of food complain over the spice while you keep eating the same food and discuss how the meat at weddings is donkey meat and all horrible concoctions yet shoving that same donkey meat down your throat like it’s a competition you know why? because you paid for it… How? Salami duh. So now you will eat your money’s worth and what you can’t eat you will waste. You will grab six naans while knowing well you can eat only 3 of them but hey its ok you paid for it and then splatter some on the floor as well because the hall wasn’t colorful and the decoration missing something so now you fixed it with food on the floor. As soon as you are done eating thou you leave the event get in to your fancy cars and leave for home on the way back you complain over the ambiance the food and how the photographer was only focused on the bride how selfish!! you will fall asleep and get back to your day to day life.
These are some aspects of a said to be a joyus occasion but all I can see and possibly you too are varying intensities of stress and depressing happenings. The the bride and groom are stressed to look good and thinking over the next step in life, the fathers are concerned about the money they are spending. The dancers are stressed over winning from the other side. The management is stressed over the service and all I can do is think over why are we doing this to ourselves why must we force ourselves to make a halal event so loud and completely opposite to our culture why can’t we just call upon our immediate family who will actually be concerned about us rather than the food. I could see fathers attending the wedding pushing back their retirement plans because there children deserve a grand wedding do you realize the stress you put on people for wanting to get married and if you don’t follow the society you are labeled the black sheep it hardly seems fair. So I urge you to move from this depressing, life draining cycle and just think of yourself for once be happy wit in your means and just because you gave a salami does not mean you have to waste and complain over everything be kind people you will all experience this eventually.
