Lord Acton once said: “The danger is not that a particular class is unfit to govern. Every class is unfit to govern.”
The Azadi march has created a lot of troubles for the common people. Apart from the common people, the country’s economy has also started to suffer due to the Maulana’s protest. It is open secret that whenever a country faces political turmoil, the financial matters of the country are also affected. Even though the country is being affected negatively by the protest, the majority of the opposition parties support the protest which creates lot of tension for the PTI government. One point of view is that it is mainly the government’s fault that thousands of JUI-F protestors are allowed to sit in the capital’s main point. It argues that the government has neglected one of its important jobs; maintaining law and order. In addition, this Dharna culture has somewhat become a part of the capital, due to the ever increasing frequency with which dharnas are now being held. This is disappointing, as no other democratic country allows such protests to be held which disrupts the daily routine of the people.
A developing country like Pakistan needs responsible politicians, media and a superior bureaucracy. The ideal situation is one in which every Pakistani fulfills theirresponsibility. However, the current situation is far from ideal. The country is facing multiple threats which need to be addressed as soon as possible. Every educated Pakistani is aware of the fact that if, as a nation, we want to overcome all challenges, all of the people should act responsibly. Currently, however, it is a tragedy that our media has not fulfilled its responsibility. Dozens of private channels and talk shows have failed to convince the masses that these juggler type dharnas would create more and more trouble in the future. The country’s so-called think tanks are also absent in current political situation. It is important to understand that state affairs are not a comedy show. This is because these state affairs will directly impact a nation whom 22 crore people call home. In addition, the JUI-F’s strategy is alarmingly shortsighted. If ,for example, they prove that the formation of the PTI government was due to unfair elections, they have no idea what to do next.
However, it is very much encouraging to see that the PPP and PML-N have taken the wise decision and distanced themselves from the Maulana’s dharna politics. Both parties have realized that, after one year the new general election demand will not be legitimate. In a democratic system, it is not strangeto seethe opposition party criticizing the government’s policies. It is however, unbearable, to see the opposition creating trouble for the common man in the name of democracy.
Maulana Fazalur Rehman’s close circles claimthatthe purpose of the JUI-F chief’sefforts is to create a type of environment which is, in essence, democratic. The Maulana’s supporters also believe that the objectives of the dharna are much more important than they initially seem to be.
The JUI-F is not the only party seeking to overthrow the government. The PPP, PML-N, ANP and PMAP are also united against the PTI government. The interesting point is that, after the general election of 2018 almost all the opposition parties claimed that the election was rigged. In this context, PPP and PML-N openly claimed that Prime minster Imran Khan was selected not elected. In the prevailing scenario, it is quite clear that part of the opposition (JUI-F)is targeting the state institutions in the capital .It is difficult to say what steps will be taken by opposition parties as a whole in the coming days, however one thing is clear: there lies ahead a road of trouble for the PTI government in the coming days.
