It has been very rightly said that behind every big fortune there is a hidden crime but what good is the money if it can’t save you from some incurable physical disease? When one looks at some of our political leaders who have come into big money in a short span of time fighting a losing battle against some unexplained disease and their doctors are unable to make them stand back on their feet, one’s faith in the afore-mentioned idiom is further strengthened. Human being’s lust for money seems to be insatiable. Sheikh Saadi was a noted sage. He had once said that a man forgets the death of his young son with the passage of time as time is the biggest healer, but if he is deprived of his money by somebody or he loses it due to some reason, he never forgets the sadness caused by it which he carries to his grave.
It is said that when Alexander the Great was seriously ill he came to know that his number was up When he was being taken back to his country as he wanted to meet his mother whom he had not seen for years but he knew that he may not reach his country alive for such was the seriousness of his ailment. In the way, he advised his Generals that in case he died in the way he should be laid in the coffin in such a manner that his hands are open so that the onlookers should see that empty handed he had come to this world and empty handed he was returning to his Maker. His next advice to them was that his dead body placed in a coffin should be taken by his physicians only to the cemetery on their shoulders so that the people should know that even the best of medicos could not save him from death. It is said after he died, his last wish was duly carried out by his generals, hook, line and sinker.
