The Achilles heel of Imran Khan is leaders of those political parties who have joined him in his coalition government. If they decide to desert him he cannot survive as the PM. A coalition government is always a very weak government prone to the blackmail of its coalition partners. The PM says he is going to show the door to those ministers of his cabinet who have failed to deliver. He had given exactly the same type of statement when he was taking oath of his cabinet ministers though one has not seen any concrete implementation of it despite the fact that some ministers have not proved themselves equal to the task. While it might not be difficult for him to get rid of the defaulting ministers belonging to his own party , it is by no means going to be an easy task to remove any minister or reshuffle him who belongs to the political parties whose support the PM needs to run the show.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman seems to be on cloud nine after his recent sit-in which has catapulted him back into prominence. He is the most sought after politician by the TV anchors who want his interviews. He is not likely to stop his political campaign but would like to keep the pot boiling till the time date of fresh elections is announced. Both the PPP and Nawaz League as well as other political parties were upstaged by him in the recent sit-in and he now would try to cash in on his new-found political vitality. Other religio-political parties like the JI and Noorani group of JUP appear to have gone back in recluse. Among the religious parties the JUI(F) today enjoys number one position.
