Rumour has it that Zardari has been depositing money under the plea-bargain provision of NAB through his henchmen and before long the government would let him off the hook. The concerned authority had better clarify the position .If there is any truth in this rumour the people have the right to know the total money he had to deposit under the said plea-bargain.
The PM as well as his team members have been talking a lot about the so-called off-shore companies and our elite’ penchant to transfer their ill-gotten money by using this escape route.The question is that if these off-shore companies are that bad then why don’t the government declare it as a crime to open any off-shore company?
A procedurable mistake on the part of concerned civil servants who conducted the paperwork of the case of the extension of the services of the Army chief put the PM in a very embarrassing situation which he had to rectify in a hurriedly called cabinet minister. Whether the law minister was removed for this folly or he himself thought it proper to call it quits thus indirectly accepting the blame for the episode is beside the point.His step was timely and in accordance with the democratic traditions, otherwise, in this country ministers hardly carry the can for such blunders. The Secretary to the PM is supposed to see every file minutely which is put up to the PM for his signature. He certainly erred in this case and the PM must show him the door.
