The government must match words with deeds. There has been a lot of talk on the part of the rulers that they have launched a crusade against the corrupt Mafia of the country .The allegedly corrupt big gun have been arrested by the dozen but the general public perception is that action is not speaking louder than the words. The common man now wants to know the amount of looted money recovered from different mafias along with the names of the Dons running them .Their names must be made public so that the poor of the country should know the culprits responsible for the economic woes of the country.
It is about time the voter of this country started differentiating between the good and the bad, between the donkey and the horse and between the black and the White. It is a pity that time and again he is taken to the cleaners by the wily politician in every election by leading him up the garden path.He should stop voting on the basis of creed, sect, language etc etc and instead vote for a candidate who is known for his impeccable honesty and who is above board .
The tragedy with our political system is that it has , lately , become a profitable business yielding big dividends which no other trade yields in this country.Every politician who wins an assembly seat by investing any amount at the hustings earns ten times more than money spent by him in the election during the five years that he sits in parliament.Dynastic politics too is a special feature of our politics.Intra-party elections in most of the parties are conducted in such a manner that the next of kin of the party’s head invariably get elected as second-in-command within the party thus enabling him to automatically take over the party whenever the number of the head of the party is up.
